Island Sculpture

We spent 2 whole days moulding and making the Isle of Coll with St Mary's Catholic Primary School - Year 2 classes.

They had great fun scrunching newspaper, dipping gumstrip in water and gluing gooey tissue paper.

By the end of the first day we had a sculpture resembling a snow-covered landscape.

The second day we created the coloured landscape of cliffs, hills and green fields as well as buildings and animals.

A big thank you to Miss Williams and Miss McCallum and the children in Year 2 for working so hard and creating such a wonderful Isle of Coll, Katie Morag would be very pleased with our artwork!!

Nativity in a Box

Just before Christmas we spent 2 days at St Benedict Catholic School and Performing Arts College creating Nativity Boxes with Year 7 students and a couple of Year 10 students.

We listened to Christmas music while we worked and had great fun making the boxes using the light to shine through slits in the tops of the boxes to create a very magical scene.
Its a secret, what's inside the boxes...

Flamstead Centre Batiks

For the Winter Solstice Festival we worked with the elder people at the Flamstead Centre in Ilkeston.

We have a lovely time chatting to the group and we were very pleased to see the men of the group enjoy creating their batiks.

The batiks were used to decorate the winter arches at the Erewash Museum Winter Solstice celebration on 21 December in the museum garden. They looked stunning.

We are looking forward to working with the group again in March.

Here are some of the men of the group and their designs.

A Bit of Sparkle

The Carers Break workshop in December had a lovely Christmassy feel with sparkly jewellery and nibbles and bubbly beverages.

It was the last one planned for the Heart of the Park venue at the moment, however we are hoping to get some more sessions organised for the new year.

We have such a lovely group of carers who enjoy making, chatting and relaxing in the centre of the park, we have really enjoyed working with Ruth, Athifah, Caroline and Shirley.
